Costa has over 30 years of investment experience, including 22 years in private equity, of which 11 years are at Windjammer. Prior to joining Windjammer, Costa was with Butler Capital Corporation from 1989 to 1999, most recently as a general partner and managing director. While at Butler, Costa managed the firm’s investment staff and was personally involved in sourcing, analyzing, negotiating and managing portfolio investments. Prior to joining Butler, Costa was with Bank of Boston for 11 years, most recently as the general manager in the bank’s Midwest office in Chicago, Illinois, where he was responsible for a staff of 11 investment professionals. At Windjammer, Costa is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the Firm and management of the investment staff, diligence/operating protocols, the partnerships, and administrative functions. He is also actively involved in the due diligence and management of all investments. Costa currently serves on the boards of Engineered Controls International, JWC Environmental, and Global Claims Services. He formerly held board positions at a number of portfolio companies, including Protective Industries ("Caplugs"), National School Supply, CT Farm and Country, Contech Construction Products, Iron Age, The RETEC Group, Symmetry Medical (observation rights), Schutt Holdings, McKenzie Sports Products, and Rotex Holdings. Costa received his BA from Georgetown University and an MBA from The University of Chicago. He is located in the Firm’s Waltham office.
