Costa has over 40 years of investment experience, including 30 years in private equity, of which 17 years are at Windjammer. Prior to joining Windjammer, Costa was with Butler Capital Corporation from 1989 to 1999, most recently as a general partner and managing director. While at Butler, Costa managed the firm's investment staff and was personally involved in sourcing, analyzing, negotiating and managing portfolio investments. Prior to joining Butler, Costa was with Bank of Boston for 11 years, most recently as the general manager in the bank's Midwest office in Chicago, Illinois. At Windjammer, Costa has been responsible for the overall strategic direction of the Firm and management of the investment staff, diligence/operating protocols, the partnerships, and administrative functions. Going forward, this role will be shared by the three Managing Principals. Costa currently serves on the board of Engineered Controls International. He formerly held board positions at a number of Windjammer portfolio companies, including Global Claims Services, Protective Industries ("Caplugs"), Rotex Holdings, JWC Environmental, McKenzie Sports Products, Schutt Holdings and The RETEC Group. At Butler he held board positions at Contech Construction Products, Iron Age, CT Farm and Country and National School Supply. Costa received his BA from Georgetown University and an MBA from The University of Chicago. He is located in the Firm's Waltham office.
